This Colonial Era government building was built in 1771, but the basement had been converted into a Revolutionary War dungeon by British armies. American prisoners, slaves, and every day citizens were forced into excruciatingly brutal circumstances by the soldiers.
While you may admire the architecture, there’s no doubt a somber air as you tour the building, which some say is haunted by the past prisoners.

If you head to the coast of Charleston and look east, you’ll see a massive WWII era aircraft carrier floating in the bay. Believe it or not, you can hop on deck for a guided tour of the facility, learn about the lives of the crew members, and discover disturbing stories about them.
While it is considered a ghost tour, there are some positive stories of heroism and honor thrown in the mix, helping dull the edge that so many of these ghost stories have.
